"I saw the whole thing dude! First, you were like, woah! And then we were like, woah! And then you were like, woah!" - Crush, Finding Nemo
When the Paella was finally finished, we went inside their restaurant and sat down to what we would soon figure out to be an eight course meal. Yep. Eight courses. First up, salad. Then we had hummus, which, if you've never had hummus from the mediterranean region, you are really missing out. Then there was calamari (which I did not eat), patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy sauce), Paella of course, pumpkin (it was literally just a scoop of pumpkin), fruit, and chocolate cake. I was so full, but everything was so delicious (well, almost everything).
The actual paella was interesting though. The meats that were in the one we ate were chicken and rabbit. There were whole chicken legs and little bones in the dish, which I was not expecting. Below are some pictures from the "Paella experience." Please note how large the pan is that it is cooked in.
(Some are from Valencia and some are just from last week)
- Watch out for pick pockets: While eating lunch with some friends from school last week, a guy came over holding a sheet of paper, which he laid directly on top of the girls phone who was sitting across from me. No one else was paying attention, but I could tell he was going to try to take it, so I went full ninja mode, grabbed her phone, and watch him hurry off very angry that I caught on to what he was trying to do.
- Always wear sunscreen. You would think from the amount I go to the beach here I would remember to put on sunscreen...but no. Maybe it will turn in to nice tan or something.
- Here's a fun quote from one of my professors: "The best part of being a student is when you're not in class." I think I would agree with that completely. I look forward to not being in class all the time.
