"The Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" -Lao Tzu
Roanoke, Virginia - pre-departure
I am about to take that first step for my journey, and I have never been more excited. I am studying abroad this semester in Barcelona, Spain, and this is where you can read about all of my adventures! I'm sure some of you are wondering about the title of my blog, "Que Sara será in Barcelona." I got the idea from the song by Doris Day, "que sera será, (for whatever will be, will be)." This is kind of my theme song in a way because my friends sing it to me from time to time, and it makes me happy. So here we go, que Sara será, which translates to, "Sara will be in Barcelona." (It doesn't sound quite as catchy in English, but still fitting none the less.)
I will be studying design at ELISAVA, Barcelona's school of Engineering and Design. I will be going by myself, which is a little scary. A lot scary actually. But I am going through a program called ISA (International Studies Abroad), so I will have the opportunity to meet many other international students once I arrive. ISA has been amazing to work with, as they have helped set everything up for me, including my classes and homestay family. My journey begins tomorrow, 30 August, at the Roanoke airport. I have three connecting flights, and then I will be in my new city. I will be landing in Barcelona at 9am their time, the next morning, 31 August. For those of you who are curious about the time difference, Barcelona is 6 hours ahead of Roanoke. I am very excited, but I am also a little nervous. I can't wait to see what this semester brings, all of the things I will learn, and everything I will get to share with you guys. Stay tuned for more!
