"At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair should be messy, and your eyes sparkling." - Shanti
We camped in the desert for two nights, in tents called Haimas. To get to the camp, we drove 4x4s through the desert. Correction: we raced them. It was fantastic, and felt a lot like a movie. My jeep came in second if anyone was wondering.
-Racing jeeps
-Dancing under the stars
-Riding camels: AMAZING (we had a caravan of 90+)
-Climbing dunes
-Building fires in the sand with the local Berber people
-Stargazing and counting shooting stars
-Getting up at 5:30 for the sunrise
-Playing cards with the locals
-ATV-ing - that was so much fun
-Eating lot's of couscous and delicious Moroccan bread
-Burrying my feet in the sand to keep warm
-Watching the sun set
-Falling in love with how peaceful and beautiful it is
The whole day in Meknes was rainy and cold. We did a walking tour of Roman ruins in a thunderstorm, which was really neat to see, and hey, I got to dance in the rain in Africa!
- I have taken entirely way too many pictures and I'm not even half way through the semester yet
- Fez is the hat and Fes is the city
- If you take a nap in the desert (in the tent of course) you will wake up with a nice layer of sand on you
-If you want to buy something in Morocco, you have to know how to bargain. And my bargaining skills need some work...
- Riding camels hurts. A lot.
- I marked things off my bucket list that I didn't even know were on it
I don't actually know what's next on the adventure list, so I guess it will be a surprise for both of us!
