"Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing"
This past weekend I went to visit Jessica in Florence. She picked me up at the airport and it was movie reunion part 2! And then we went on a tour of the city. We saw the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and all the famous old buildings and cathedrals (or a lot of them at least). Florence is an absolutely gorgeous city, and you can walk almost anywhere within it, which is both wonderful, and exhausting (having to walk is a great reason to eat more gelato though).
The only problem with walking through a city is having to cross traffic like a million times. And we all know how good I am at crossing streets. If I make it out of Europe without getting hit by a car/scooter/cart/horse I will be incredibly surprised. Thank goodness for friends who actually know how to cross the street.

The food in Italy is pretty amazing. Pizza and pasta forever. And Gelato. I also got to cook for the first time in a long time. One night Jessica made pasta and green beans, and another night we made breakfast for dinner! I have missed having pancakes and scrambled eggs so much, it's ridiculous.
On Monday, I was left to wander the city by myself because Jessica was in class. Don't worry, I didn't get lost. For long... But leaving me alone in a city means shopping, and buying too many scarves.
I had the best time in Florence, and I loved being able to spend the weekend watching movies and exploring new places with an old friend. And I guess I learned a few things along the way too:
-I have no idea how to speak Italian
-If you drink a glass of wine with spicy pasta, it's all going to taste like fire. I do not recommend...but the pasta is still delicious
-I went all the way to Florence and I didn't get a single stamp in my passport!!
-We have daylight savings time one week before the United States does. So right now I am only 5 hours ahead of the people reading this at home, instead of 6
-The signs that tell you how long until the next train leaves aren't just suggestions. I missed the metro to the airport by 2 seconds (it was fine though because they come every 10 minutes). Four other people and I were running to the train at the same time, three made it on as the doors were beeping, one guy got closed in the door, and I slid and ran into the door. The guy who got stuck and I were left to wait, while one of the ladies who made it on waved to me apologetically as the train pulled away. I have no idea who any of them were, but I think we all bonded in that moment.

This weekend I will be heading to South France with ISA. And it's only a week from today that my grandparents get here! I can't wait to see them!
