We got to do so much starting with a Winterfell Game of Thrones Bike tour, which was so cool. My friend Jake and I got to wear cloaks and swing swords as we toured the various filming locations like the Winterfell Castle, Red Wedding filming location and much more. This is where we learned about the 10 doors constructed by the Game of Thrones Franchise. Made from trees that fell from a hurricane a few years ago at the Dark Hedges filming location, or the road to King’s Landing. These 10 doors are intricately carved and each one represents an episode six and are supposed to give clues to series seven! All the doors were placed at bars, pubs, hotels, etc. near filming locations across Northern Ireland. Needless to say the hunt was on for Jake and I. We walked from the Winterfell tour to a neighboring town where we visited the hotel where the cast stay during filming, Ned and Catelyn Stark's clothing, Ned Stark’s sword and saw our first door!
In the evening we also went to find another door in Belfast, but when we got there a private party was taking place, but the security guard helped us sneak in to see the door! We also happened to grab a few pints at the bar where the Game of Thrones cast frequently visits! I should mention the amazing hostel we stayed at as well. We spent the weekend at Lagan Backpackers in Belfast. I would highly recommend it. When we got there one of the individuals there from Italy was making dinner and it was delicious, the breakfast was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful!
