In case you were curious about what a weekday may look like for me I have written this blog! This is what a Monday looks like for me and the rest of the weekdays are a variation of this to some degree! I have sketched out the day, included a few fun facts, what I have learned and pictures below.
6:30 AM
- Rise and Shine to face the day!
- First things first - check the Dubin Bus App to see when I can catch my bus
- Do all the regular things to get ready for the day like getting dressed and eating breakfast
- Leave 15 minutes before bus arrives at stop because sometimes the bus likes to arrive early
***IT IS NOT FUN IF YOU MISS YOUR BUS***
- Typically the sun is rising as I make my way to school, so that is pretty neat

8:30 AM
- Arrive at school after getting off bus and walking to campus
9:00 AM
- Irish Modern Culture and Society Class
- Classes are different in Ireland in the sense that they typically meet only once a week and for multiple hours at a time
11:00 AM
- Grab a coffee or tea and catch up with a few friends in class
11:20 AM
- Walk to my service site down the road from campus
11:30 AM
- Working with Global Action Plan Ireland!!! Check them out b/c they are AWESOME
- I do all sorts of things with GAP. I am the “education intern” (click the link to see what I do and the pictures I have taken for GAP) meaning I work with their youth education program coordinator/officer. I do a variety of things from collecting data from surveys, to facilitating workshops, to using what I affectionately call a “fire stick” to make medallions for the students in the various programs. This is a neat tool that gets really hot and then one uses it to essentially burn text into a piece of wood!

Sometimes depending on the day and what my friends are up to we all get together and hang out, go to city center, play games, have a drink, or just have fun!
I have learned that it is important to not just observe but engage with people, the culture, or the place you are living in, but rather to PARTICIPATE!!! I try to actively engage with the people I have class with, work with, and meet. Actually strive to become a part of the culture, people, and place one is studying abroad in. Be an active participant wherever you are!
*Check out my pictures on the photos page to see the adventures I had this past weekend hanging out with friends, celebrating birthdays and exploring more of Dublin with a James Joyce themed day.
