Ciao, friends! It's been so long since I have posted anything that I have so much I could write about. I'll go in order, I suppose. First, here's a lovely sunset over the Arno river.
In other news, there are a number of keys currently not working on my keyboard, so if there are typos I miss, try adding a g or an h.
And next, I went to Rome!
I saw all the Lizzie McGuire sites and tossed a coin in the fountain (of course). I also ate pizza for all but one meal, and when you order pizza in Italy, you get the whole thing for yourself. Thats like six pizzas in three days. It was awesome.
I was also so lucky as to get to visit the Vatican one day. Everything is beautiful of course, but the Sistine Chapel is way bigger than I expected and also far more awe-inspiring than I ever could have imagined. I looked up until I thought my head would fall off of my neck (approx. half an hour). Unfortunately, you cant take photos inside.
St. Peter's Basilica was also cool, obviously. Our tour guide told us all about the subjects in the old paintings who look like current famous actors, and she mentioned that Pope Benedict still lives on the Vatican grounds with his "small colony of cats." We were there on an off day and there were still so many people that it was hard to move. |
In other news...
-I got to meet Bill Foley and spend a day learning from him in a "Light of Florence and Tuscany" workshop (photos to come). He's pretty famous, look him up.
-I've decided on a favorite gelato place.
-I have gotten to spend time wit a couple of Italian families and photograph them, and one group took me on a hike!
-I've learned to make fresh pasta and biscotti in the true Italian ways.
-MY FAMILY CAME and it was so lovely :)
-SARA CAME and that was also fantastic!
